This weeks reading were about resisting violence. I can see that violence against women is becoming a problem. However this problem is not being taken care of correctly. More schools should start teaching classes and self defense at a young age. It is not right that women cannot learn to fend by themselves until later in life or their parents pay for them to take classes. Most young women do not want or know what that type of class can teach them and how it could save their lives later. There should be a class scheduled a few times a month that teaches both men and women self defense and also talks about violence against women and all other types of violence that is wrong and how it can be prevented and helped. These stories in this chapter made me feel sad to read about how many women are being tortured, raped and murdered and there is not enough help for these people. The governments around the world need to step up and help each other. After seeing their faces and there pain I do not understand how you would not want to help them. Hearing about a child who has been rapped by her father is so hard to hear about and you want to help there should not be so many problems in this young child’s life. This is another topic that schools should focus on. There should be a counseling session a couple of times a month to try and help these children.
